I don’t think enough people have tried to really understand what it is that parties mean to Charli xcx – why she cares about them – or just how it feels to try to accept that the party’s over, or could end soon: part of the thrill of partying is its hedonism and sense of escape, sensations that feel miraculous because you know they’re fleeting; that some day, at some age, you’ll be “too old” to be doing all this, whatever that is, but are – as so many 20-somethings have felt on the dance floor – not exactly sure what you should be doing instead.
