I'm sure if you live in Boston this is something you've done already, but I used to live in western Mass and early fall is simply effervescent there. The last time I went, I stayed at a really cute Airbnb in Belchertown that was right on a little lake, but North Adams (where MASS MoCA is) is also extremely beautiful
