Fresh Berry Cream Cake

this took me a full day to make but was so rewarding. i made it earlier this summer for a friend and it ended up doubling as a birthday gift: it clearly took so much effort and was obviously specifically made for her (she had told me she was excited about summer strawberries), which made both of us excited because it felt more special and meaningful than just a random book or something i could have bought her. i decorated mine with sugar flowers and tried making the lemon curd as well, but didn't manage to get the curd thick enough ... if you make this and manage to do it, let me know if you have curd tips/tricks!
