in 2025, i discovered the band oasis and spent about four months trying desperately to get to their sold-out reunion tour for an essay. i did eventually manage to go; it was in la and no one could understand anything liam gallagher said. they played every song exactly the way everyone on reddit said they would and the woman next to me was reading a book on her phone the whole time. even if i knew lots of the words it seemed hard to imagine myself as an oasis fan, being as the fans were mostly sunburnt drunk british men in their 50s and didn't much feel like "my people." i think mostly i had wanted to see oasis play in the '90s, which is maybe what all of us wanted. maybe i'll still write that essay someday
