the magic castle

ok so one time when i was in la a few years ago i made it my mission to score an invite to the LEGENDARY and RANDOMLY EXCLUSIVE magic castle, an old Hollywood mansion ("old hollywood" in the sense of like, old and in Hollywood, but also "old hollywood" like, golden-era Hollywood) that's been converted into a black-tie space where you are only allowed to go if you 1) are a magician or 2) know a magician. in fact i learned in la it's actually incredibly easy to meet a magician who will put you on their guest list for the magic castle (distressingly so, in fact) and the night was one of the silliest and craziest i've had in a minute. simply the best
